I find reading to be very important in a teenager’s growing years. I know as a kid, I loved to read even when I didn’t have to. As I grew into a young adult, I started to lose interest in it. I was caught up with life and invested more time in other activities. I felt like I didn’t need to pick up a book and read. Fast forward to now being an adult, I realized how much reading had helped with keeping up on my comprehension and even my writing skills.
Being a travel blogger, I am constantly having to travel and write for my viewers. I want nothing but the best for them to read as well as myself. I want my audiences to feel what I feel when I get to travel with my little one. Kind of like stepping into my shoes for a day and seeing my “office” for a day. I’ve noticed by not reading as much how much it has been a struggle to write. Instead of it taking an hour to write a post, it could take me up to a whole day to write. I don’t want that to become a struggle for Reese with her school work.
With things starting to open up again means a lot of traveling for Reese and I. During traveling, it’s always hard to find time to read for either of us. I encourage her and even myself to read even though we are traveling. Now we have decided to keep our books in the car, backpack, luggage, and carry on so that we can read them in between our plane rides, car rides, train rides..etc. The current books in our bags are A Rebel in Auschwitz, Prisoner B-3087 and I am Defiance.
Reese picked these books because she and I just recently went to Europe and wanted to base our reading studies around Europe. It was interesting to hear what she had said about the books with each chapter she read. Opening her eyes to new vocabulary as well as storytelling. I loved watching her light up telling me about the chapter she just read about while we were out traveling. Even though we are a traveling family, I cannot stress enough how important it is to keep your little ones engaged with reading. If we can do it with our crazy traveling schedule, I believe anyone can do it! What book would you choose for your next adventures?
