Summer break has always been the best time for Reese and me. Nothing but travel and quality time with my little one. With that being said, I don’t want her to start slacking on her reading skills and or not feel motivated to pick up a book. That’s why over the break, I plan on implementing an hour of reading to our crazy schedules.
Whether we’re in the air or in a car, during the time that I’ve planned for her she will pick up her current book (or a new one) and get at least a chapter of reading in. Or maybe even more than just a chapter!
This month’s haul of books is all based on people’s stories that lived through some tragic historical events. Books including I Survived the Nazi Invasion, I Survived the Sink of the Titanic, and I Survived #3: I Survived Hurricane Katrina. Little miss Reese really wanted to step back in time with her books. It’s so awesome to see her reading while we are on our flights or even in the airport waiting to board. She would stop every now and then just to fill me in on what is happening in the book. It’s like traveling with a little history teacher! Lol
Reese’s goal for every trip that we take is to try to finish the book by the end of the trip. Now, I thought this girl was nuts for thinking that but I underestimated her! Even in our downtime from exploring the places we were at, she would be having her head in her books.
It was crazy but made me so happy to be seeing her doing that. To my surprise, she actually finished one book while we were on our most recent trip to Italy. She even told me all about the book during our dinner dates! What book would you bring on our next trip?
