Creativity is a powerful force. The spark leads to great inventions, amazing art, and innovative ideas. Without it, the world would be a much duller place. Unfortunately, creativity isn’t something that we can always rely on. Sometimes, it’s hard to find the motivation to be creative and come up with new ideas. If you’re feeling stuck in a creative rut, here are some tips to help you get your creative juices flowing again.
Take a Break
One of the best things you can do when you’re feeling uninspired is to take a break. Step away from the project you’re working on, whatever it may be. Go for a walk, take a nap, or just sit and relax. Taking a break can help to clear your head and allow your subconscious to work on the problem. It’s amazing how much our brains can do when we’re not actively thinking about it.
Pinterest is full of ideas for nearly anything and everything you could think of. Create a list of topics you would like to cover with your content then make coordinating boards on Pinterest. Pick a new board every day and spend 15 min each day just browning Pinterest. Pin ideas that you feel would work well for your platform then recreate the content adding a twist.
Challenge Yourself
Sometimes, the best way to get creative is to challenge yourself. Choose a project or task that you have never done before and attempt it. Don’t worry about whether or not you’ll be successful; instead, focus on the creative process. You’ll be surprised at how creative you can be when you’re pushing yourself to do something new. Try a live for 30 days challenge where you go live on each of your platforms over 30 days. Not only will this push you out of your comfort zone it will build engagement. Win!
Practice
Creativity is a skill that can be improved with practice. Set aside sometime each day to practice your creative skills. This could be anything from shooting more photos, editing more videos. Whatever it is, make sure you’re challenging yourself and pushing your limits. Practicing will help you to become more confident in your creative abilities.
Collaborate
Creativity is often a solitary activity, but it can be enhanced with collaboration. Find a friend or colleague interested in being creative and working together. Talking through ideas and working together can help to spark new ideas and give you fresh perspectives. I LOVE working Zoom sessions where I log on to Zoom with a group of people and we all spend 2 hours working while throwing around ideas.
Get Out of Your Comfort Zone
Sometimes, we get stuck in a rut because we’re too comfortable with what we’re doing. To break out of this rut, you need to do something that’s outside of your comfort zone. Maybe you do mostly make up the content, and maybe one day do a GRWM and dabble in a little fashion content. Your followers might LOVE it!
Change Your Environment
Our environment has a massive impact on our creative output. If you’re feeling stuck, try changing up your environment. Go to a different place, have a change of scenery, or work in a separate room. Sometimes all it takes is a small change to help get our creative juices flowing again.
Get Inspired
Look for inspiration wherever you can find it. Read books, watch movies, look at art, or listen to music. Get inspired by the work of others and see how it can influence your own creative ideas.
Take Notes
Keep a notebook or journal handy and use it to record any ideas that come to you. Even if the ideas seem silly or far-fetched, write them down. You never know when an idea will spark something else.
Don’t Be Afraid to Fail
Finally, don’t be afraid to fail. Creativity is a risk and sometimes you have to take chances in order to be successful. Don’t be afraid to try something new or take risks. You never know what you might discover.
Creativity is an essential part of life and it’s important that we take the time to nurture it. When you’re feeling uninspired, try some of these tips to help get your creative juices flowing again. Who knows, you could end up creating something amazing!
